Wireless networking within Biology

If you have a laptop or desktop computer with an installed AirPort, AirPort Extreme, or any other 802.11b or 802.11g wireless network card, starting May 15th, 2006, you can connect to the AirSAS wireless service throughout the BioPond botanical gardens, the Leidy and Goddard buildings and the new Lynch Life Sciences Building.

If you do not already have a wireless card in your laptop or other computer or device, visit the Computer Connection or CDW.com to purchase a 802.11b- or 802.11g-compliant card. After its installation you will be ready to follow these two steps.

First, register your computer's wireless card with the Penn Biology DHCP service (PennKey required). This will allow your computer to connect to the AirSAS network. If you have already registered your computer, you do not need to register a second time! If you have a visitor, simply follow these instructions to set up temporary access on behalf of your guest.

Second, use the AirSAS client configuration instructions to set up an AirSAS profile for your laptop or other wireless device. You will need a PennKey to gain access to the wireless network. If you have a visitor, simply follow these instructions to set up temporary access on behalf of your guest.
