Obtaining a new PennKey account

Why is a PennKey important?
Your PennKey is a username and password combination that you will use to access many online resources at Penn, including setting up new email accounts, access to Penn Library resources off-campus, wireless networking, salary and benefits, and other sensitive information. It is important to set up a PennKey that you will remember — likewise, it is very important to keep your PennKey safe from others!

If you do not set up your PennKey account immediately after obtaining a PennCard, you will either need to visit the PennKey center to obtain a PennKey Setup Code, or request a code sent to your permanent postal address. Instructions for obtaining the Setup Code are available here.

If you are visiting the center, be sure to bring two forms of photo identification. The center takes security very seriously and you will need to be able to identify yourself to obtain the Setup Code. You will not be able to send anyone to obtain the Setup Code on your behalf.

Once you have a PennKey setup code, you can register your new PennKey account online here.

You can also use a new Setup Code to reset your PennKey password, in case you forget it.
