overview
Most of this course is devoted to weekly hands-on biology activities
which Penn students learn and then teach to biology students
in a nearby public high school. Each week, Penn students learn
the relevant biology background and techniques for a hands-on
activity and then teach the hands-on activity to a small group
of high school students. Topics for the hands-on activities include
microbiology, genetics, and human physiology. The course begins
with a few classes about successful approaches to teaching biology
in urban high schools.
