- There will be two mid-term examinations, one each for each half of the course, and one final that will be cumulative, i.e. will cover the entire course.
- The first half of each of these examinations will have a sit-down format. The second half will have a take-home format. The sit-down sections of the examinations will consist of multiple choice and/or short
answer questions. The take-home sections will consist of questions based on the interpretation and/or design of original experiments. Each examination will be worth 100 points. After normalizing to a common mean, the mid-term examination with the lowest score will be dropped.
- There will be no make-up exams.
- Examples of old exams will be distributed during the course. Questions about exam grading will be considered only during a one week interval after return of the graded exams to the students. These questions must be submitted in writing to the TA. Whenever an exam is considered for regrading, all answers in that exam will be regraded.
