Scott Poethig and Junhyong Kim Awarded Endowed Chairs in Biology

Scott Poethig has been appointed the John H. and Margaret B. Fassitt Professor. Junhyong Kim has been named the Patricia M. Williams Term Professor in Biology

Dr. Poethig has received numerous honors for his research on the genetics of plant development, including election to the National Academy of Science in 2014. He received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2011 for his engaging and innovative work in the classroom. Dr. Kim, who works at the interface of genomics, computational/mathematical biology and evolution, was previously awarded a Guggenheim fellowship, the Sloan Foundation Young Investigator Award, and the New England Bioscience Award.
