In the recent decade, light microscopy has undergone a revolution. Super-resolution microscopy overcame a fundamental physical barrier, extending the spatial resolution of light microscopy to the tens of nanometer length scales. In my talk, I will give two examples of how we are suing super-resolution microscopy to understand spatial organization and compartmentalization within single cells and the significance of this molecular organization for cell function.
